The Allen Group is pleased to announce that it has been awarded LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for the first two industrial buildings at the Dallas Logistics Hub in recognition of the sustainable design and construction methods implemented on the project. LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings
These state-of-the-art buildings are part of the largest new, eco-friendly, logistics park in North America, with 6,000 acres master-planned for 60 million square feet of distribution, manufacturing, office and retail developments. Building 1 is a 635,000 square foot, cross-dock facility, while Building 2 is a 192,850 square foot warehouse facility
The project was developed by The Allen Group. MYCON General Contractors, Inc. was the General Contractor, GSO Architects were the design architect and Bjerke Management Solutions served as Construction Manager.
MYCON General Contractors, Inc. specializes in integrating construction management services, including pre-construction planning, conceptual estimating, tenant interior coordination, value engineering, permitting assistance, design/build, and post-construction needs. GSO Architects is a minority owned, full-service architectural firm in Dallas with experience in various types of commercial construction and boasts a notable client base. As the architect of record for the Dallas Logistics Hub project, GSO was instrumental in the warehouse’s successful attainment of LEED Gold Status by the National Green Building Council. Through an extensive process of verifying prerequisites and credits, GSO was able to meet the second highest recognized green building standard. To be designated LEED Gold the project must reach a certain score in areas such as site development, water efficiencies, energy conservation and materials selection, in addition to meeting required prerequisites. “We are very excited that our first LEED project achieved Gold Status and we hope this encourages other clients to look to green building initiatives”, says Lisa Swift, Principal of GSO Architects.
