MYCON General Contractors Inc. said Tuesday that it has been hired to build a new research and development center for Encore Wire in McKinney.

The 13,000-square-foot project will be built at the company’s corporate campus on Millwood Road.

“It’s going to be right across the street from our office building,” said Encore CFO Frank Bilban.

The building will be constructed to high environmental and energy efficiency standards and will open late this year.
